Svart1 is Raimondo Gaviano, who works in the fields of Ambient, Dark Ambient, Techno, live-performance and visuals. He currently lives and works in Cagliari, Sardinia. Based in Cagliari, but with frequent international venues Svart1 is one of the few dark-ambient musicians that starting from Sardinia was able to have a gig in May 2009 in one of the most popular European club of industrial music, the "Gyari Club" of Budapest for "Hyperborea Festival" with well-know Scivias. Returned to his native Cagliari was guest of the two major festivals of electronic music and culture of Sardinia in 2009 "Music in Touch" and 2010 "Signal Festival". In 2011 was in Zagreb, Croatia at "Tvornica Culture" guest for Art & Strategy and Miljenko Rajakovic (Tehom-Principia Automatica) and in March 2012 in Prague, Czech republique at "Cafe V Lese" guest of Arkham Productions with Czech groups Fuck Tv and SWF. In 2013 for the first time he performed, guest of DEATH#DISCO in Berlin at KKK with the Croatian Umrijeti Za Strojem. In 2014 he also plays audio-visual concept "Der Schnitter" at well-know German Industrial festival Schlangstrom in Berlin with Monolake, Winterkälte, Absolute Body Control, PAL, Tanz ohne Musik, Carter Tutti play Chris & Cosey, Philipp Münch, Raison D'etre. In 2015 plays again in Berlin at Griessmuehle (21 August - 23 August night event) and also had the preview about his new a/v work "SdiM 008<>015" and also plays for 2nd III a/v project with Claudio PRC. In October 2015 plays for the second time at his native Cagliari for Signal Festival with "SdiM 008<>015". In 2016 "Haram Wounds", audio-visuals live set about Islamic Ashura presented at well-know Italian Industrial festival "Destination Morgue". In Summer 2016 plays at well-know Metal Festival Brutal Assault with Dark and ritual Ambient masters like Tehom, Anemone Tube, Holotrop. In January 2017 plays at Doctor Sax, Tutin with Kessa and Astronomy domine for Ritualism events.
His sounds, nordic-style typically, are the result of a microcosm of dark and gloomy sound characterized by minimal movements between low evolutionary where used in a thunderous, metallic roar, shadowy presences that materialize sound, like the experience and the feeling of alienation between dark presence floating around the ears of the unconscious passenger.
As visual artist Svart1 investigate meditations that explore our notion of time, sexism, memory and nightmares. He invites audiences to reinvent impressions of depth, distance and disappearance, and to fathom the qualities of the space around our limits of perception. the confrontation to otherness and its inter-thematic using nature beauty, social yokes, dominant/dominated relationships, codes and what happens to them out of their context; gender and its limits and ambiguities, issues of the double and of the multiple characters under a single skin, or yet the identity, status and image of humanity.
Raimondo Gaviano (Svart1) è un artista di origini sarde impegnato in ambito sonoro e visivo. Compositore, fotografo e videomaker, noto principalmente con la sigla Svart1, l'opera di Gaviano si distingue per una cifra estetica tendende a forme d'astrazione fortemente drammatizzanti. La preferenza per il mezzo elettronico e per mood foscamente visionari, accomuna tanto le sue composizioni musicali quanto le opere visive.
