CONVERGENCE New Music Festival 5 - 9 april 2010 Organisation: Pre-Art (Switzerland) Georgian National Music Center Tbilisi ------------------------------------------- In the absence of a more specific context, convergence denotes the approach toward a definite value, as time goes on; or to a definite point, a common view or opinion, or toward a fixed or equilibrium state. The organisation pre-art has been working for nearly ten years in virtually all countries in Southeastern Europe and the Caucasus. The work of pre-art encompasses collaborations with young composers, concert tours as well as support with short residencies in Switzerland. Most of the works by more than 20 composers have been written especially for this occasion, e.g. the whole „Peace-Project“, commissioned to four composers: Elmir Mirzoev, Aram Hovhannisyan, Stefan Wirth and Reso Kiknadze, each contributed one part to the symphonic work „Friedensfeier“ („Celebration of Peace“) after Friedrich Holderlin.
